Now he is co-heading the department of Combustor Systems and Diagnostics at the Institute of Combustion Technology, at the DLR site in Stuttgart. His background is on application of optical and laser-based diagnostics to combustion processes at ambient and increased pressure conditions.
He has a profound background of more than 20 years in studying soot formation and oxidation in idealized laboratory flames and at high pressure test rigs, latter mimicking features of gas turbine combustion. Generated validation data support modelers in improving their CFD tools.
