P rof. Thierry Schuller is professor at Université Toulouse III. He joined the Institute of Fluid Mechanics from Toulouse in 2017 to develop and lead the experimental combustion activity.
Since 2018, his research has been entirely dedicated to hydrogen combustion. He is the recipient of several best paper awards (ASME, AIAA), the Silver Medal (2010) and Research Excellence Awards (2020) of the Combustion Institute and has been nominated Fellow of the Combustion Institute (2021).
He is recipient of the ERC Advanced Grant SELECT-H in 2022, which aims at developing safe and reliable hydrogen combustion technologies. The same year, he also joined the Institut Universitaire de France. His field of expertise covers flame dynamics issues associated their stabilization, ignition, flashback, combustion noise and combustion instabilities.
In ICHARUS, he will jointly work with Imperial College to develop novel techniques combining electrical fields and acoustics to control hydrogen flame dynamics.
